ČT art is a television station of the Czech Television focused on culture. It started broadcasting on 31 August 2013 together with the children's channel ČT :D, with which it shares a broadcasting position.
Every day, CT art starts broadcasting at 8 pm with the news programme Events in Culture, accompanied by live input from events and a journalistic talk show on cultural topics.
The Czech Television launched the broadcast of the cultural station CT art at 8 p.m. The first film to be broadcast was Alois Nebel. The cultural programmes that had been broadcast mainly on CT2 were moved to CT art. Tomáš Motl was appointed executive director of the new channel. The station operates between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., and the children's TV channel CT :D is broadcast on the same channel from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. In 2013, Czech Television considered that, prospectively, CT :D and CT art should become separate and full-fledged television stations.
